Ahmad, Ahmad

ahmadok.jpg

I would like to apologize for any disgust caused by having to put this picture on my blog (man he’s ugly isn’t he?).Unless you are utterly clueless I don’t think I have to inform you what happened so let’s just jump to my take on it.In one of the earlier Star reports I spotted this:

A visit by The Star to his house in Taman Robina in Butterworth showed that his luxury bungalow, complete with a swimming pool, had been torn down. Letters were left uncollected in the letterbox. It is learnt that Ahmad and his family are now staying at a penthouse in a guarded condominium in Tanjong Tokong, pending the construction of his new bungalow

If you have followed the issue closely enough, you’ll also note that Koh Tsu Koon had stated that Ahmad has had a personal vendetta against him since 2006, when KTK refused to bend the rules and reappoint Ahmad as an MPPP councillor after he had exceeded his four-term limit. Not only that, but it would have been a major conflict of interest, since Ahmad had close links with the PORR project.Further digging leads to some old posts [here and here] from Chow Kon Yeow ( the new Tanjung MP )’s blog. Ahmad had been declared a bankrupt in 2006, in fact it would seem that KTK had had to cover his sorry ass for him back then! A rough chronology is found here.

Rags to riches in 2 years

My question is how the effing hell does one go from insolvency to not one but two luxury bungalows in 2 short years? Dear Ahmad, if you could teach your method to all the Malays out there we would no longer need the NEP. 99% of the Chinese that you rant against don’t even come close to matching your wealth. Why accuse us of hijacking the economy - it’s either a) evident that a Malay can easily make it rich, or b) you are corrupt and the only way you can drum up support is to play up religion and race.If you have read the Malaysiakini article, take the time to read the full press statement he made - chock-full of references of him and “umat Islam”, as if this issue had anything at all to do with religion other than him dragging it along!

Gerakan screwed

The real loser out of this is Gerakan unfortunately. There is simply no way they will ever win back Penang without UMNO support - in the unlikely event that PR screws up enough. Honestly is they really wanted to serve the country they would merge with PR.

Step up la you dumbasses

God, Pak Lah and Najib, time to grow some backbone already. If Ahmad is not sacked tomorrow then it’s clear that you have lost all control of BN.

50 people took part in an illegal rally!

I was going to go on a tirade about how a jellyfish has more backbone than all our papers put together, but I’m tired so this will have to do :/.

From NST:

IPOH: Some 50 people took part in an illegal rally at the Ipoh Padang here to show their support for the Sultan of Perak.

They also urged DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang to make an open apology to the Regent, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, instead of merely via a statement on his blog.

OMG 50 people protested! Let’s snap pics of this watershed event!

Of course when thousands gather for Hindraf or tens of thousands for the Han Chiang rally, the whole area is enveloped by a stealth field :/.

On a related note, going to NST’s front page brings me to an ad redirect - one of the first signs of an empty piggy bank.

Doesn’t take a genius to guess why.

UMNO recommends stopping Penang projects

From NST:

Penang Umno will recommend to the Federal Government to stop all proposed mega projects in the state, include those planned under the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), the second Penang Bridge, the light monorail transit system, the Penang Outer Ring Road, the Penang Sentral and the RapidPenang bus service.
State Umno secretary Datuk Azhar Ibrahim said the previous Gerakan-led state government had worked together with the federal government to bring all sorts of development to Penang.

“Since the people have clearly rejected development and made their choice for a change, we will recommend to the federal government to cancel all such projects. Don’t blame us for this,” he said after a state liaison committee meeting here today. In March 8 polls, Umno only won two parliamentary seats and 12 state seats.

I wonder why Penang UMNO is making so much noise when they weren’t even ruling Penang. Even Koh Tsu Koon was gracious enough to attend Lim’s swearing-in ceremony, which UMNO boycotted. But somehow I don’t think Abdullah would really smite his home state.

T’gganu BN Youth - Umrah holiday reward for finding a flag-burner

Today’s Star carried the following piece:

The Terengganu MCA Youth wing is offering RM3,000, on top of the RM5,000 put up by the state Umno Youth, as reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who burned the national flag during Saturday’s riot at Batu Burok.

The state Gerakan and MIC have also pledged contributions to the reward money.
Earlier, the state Umno Youth offered the cash and a trip to perform the Umrah as reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprit.

This is a just dirty way of showing “patriotism” - with a nauseating mix of religiousity to match. Flag-burning is a victimless crime. Firing live bullets at civillians is not.

For all those who have only been reading the MSM (mainstream media), then take some time to find out what really happened in Terengganu.

It was NOT a riot organized by the opposition. It was a rally organized by the NGO Bersih to discuss electoral reform, that turned ugly when the police refused - with no good reason - to provide a permit at the last minute.

The people there did not just single out the police officer to beat him up. He was an undercover (Special Branch) cop who was there busy firing up the crowd. When he was recognized as an SB officer, the crowd went for him. He fled, firing shots behind him at the crowd [link (Mkini)].

You may ask “Why the f*** does the SB pretend to be part of a gathering and provoke them against the police? It’s because it gives the MSM chances to paint the gathering as rioters, preferably tieing them to opposition parties in the process. The truth is that most of the time it is not the opposition that acts like rioters - many of them are urban, highly-educated people. A letter written to Malaysiakini (Provocation: Part of police work) was particularly revealing:

In most of these demonstrations, it was never difficult for someone like me, standing a bit further away from the main crowd, to see those clever Special Branch (SB) officers at work.

At Sogo, they were the ones that made the most noise shouting ‘reformasi’ and, when the FRU moved in, they turned around and arrested the activists standing next to them. They were at Kesas highway when Anwar wife’s Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Lim Kit Siang were present. I vividly recall one of them hurriedly running away from a group of people when someone there recognised him as a SB officer. But when the tear gas trucks came, they moved in to make their arrests.

I saw them burn tires at some road junctions near Lebuh Ampang. Although I can never prove they were SB people, it was strange to see one person bring one tire to a junction, set it on fire and then coolly move away from the area.

It certainly looked like the tire was burnt for no other reason but to create a nice photo opportunity so that it could appear on the front page of the papers the next day. After all, Malaysians had to be convinced that the reformasi movement was a ‘violent’ one and bent on ‘overthrowing’ the government through force.
